Americans may be more religious than their peers in other Western countries, but they have their limits when it comes to mixing religion and public life. According to a new survey conducted by Pew, a 38% plurality of Americans for the first time say there’s too much expression of faith in politics. That figure has increased dramatically in the last decade, especially in the last two years, and currently includes almost half of Democrats and independents. Even roughly a quarter of Republicans, up from 8% in 2001, feel the same way.

38% is way too low, in my opinion. That number really needs to increase dramatically, and very quickly, in hopes of overturning so many of these anti-women bills and laws now.

How was the 62% split? Apparently they think about right or there should be more religion in politics?

Bruce> Good question! I just tried looking that up in the Pew report but upon skimming through it, I couldn’t find where that was broken down. It may be just spread across a number of various religions included in the survey.

She speaks> I have to agree with you. There is certainly way too much religion in politics and from what I have experienced abroad (Europe) and from what family and friends who live over there say, religion is much less of an influence over there.
